Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to qualify for the Express Entry French language draw?

You need: (1) an active Express Entry profile, (2) NCLC 7 or higher in all four French skills (Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking) from TEF Canada or TCF Canada, and (3) intention to settle outside Quebec. Your CRS score must also meet or exceed the cut-off on the day of the draw.

Can I be in the French draw if I also have English proficiency?

Yes, and it helps. Having English CLB 5 or above upgrades your French bonus from 25 to 50 CRS points — significantly improving your chances of being selected.

Do I need to live in Canada to qualify for a French language draw?

No. Express Entry candidates are selected internationally. You do not need to be in Canada to create a profile or receive an ITA. French draws specifically target candidates who intend to settle in Canada outside Quebec.
